Remember when coding was really easy?

The Def Guide to Zzap!64 Logo

No, me neither – it’s always been hard but it certainly was different. Pete Brown’s latest roundup pointed me at a great blog which has an eclectic mix of development stuff, but in particular this excellent series on Commodore 64 programming.

Talking of which (and I know I drag this link out every now and again) – this was the inspiration for me being a developer: Andrew Braybrooks’s Zzap 64 Diary on building Paradroid.

The opening line is
Zzap 64 have asked me to keep a diary and today I have to start it. Feel like a mega-star. Decide not to let it change my life”. Maybe it didn’t change his, but it did change mine. Thanks Andrew.

Infer.NET (and Monty Hall)

Staying on a gaming tip (sort of - was thinking AI), then I saw someone tweet about Infer.NET a couple of weeks ago (sorry, can't remember who).

"Infer.NET is a framework for running Bayesian inference in graphical models" which means you can model for stuff like the Monty Hall problem (like in this Tutorial).

If you're not familiar with that particular conundrum then it's a probability mindbender that demonstrates (in a particular instance of cars, doors and goats) that you should always change your mind.

Works with F# apparently too.
